INSOMNIA. LUCID DREAMS. ANY DREAMS
Thoughts and spirits are like starshine glowing in the milky way, and I feel alive in nighttime.
My inspirations are always born in darkness, either from chaotic awakening time or whimsical dreams blurred with reality.
Through my design, I like to incorporate geometrical elements into furniture to visualize the emotions.
I seek for rhythms in different moods and make each piece a manifestation of imagination and function.

“Divide day and night in half, I spend 12 hours on contemplating in dark, whether awake or dreaming. My brain does not stop thinking even unconsciously.”

Personal experiences and music have developed her deep connection with emotions, memories and dreams over the years. Innovative shapes, random ideas and Chinese cultural background always inspire her in the process of design. San tries to blend emotions and innovation to find an aesthetical and functional balances in the work.

“Furniture is either a functional artwork, or an aesthetically pleasing tool. There are no restrictions in styles; I would do anything that jumps out in mind. And It’d better be one-of-a-kind in the world.”

San has been seeking for her own unique style for a long time - the forms are not tied to a specific style. Her work usually appears in two extremes, dark or playful. She starts to do woodworking since she enters the furniture design program, and her work is usually made of wood and finished with spray colors and rubbed oil.
